Set in one of Uganda's most picturesque game parks; a classic camp in the grand safari tradition. This well-appointed retreat provides the only luxury accommodation in Lake Mburo National Park, and is set in a commanding hill-top position overlooking Lake Mburo and its surrounding eco-systems. All nine guest tents and the restaurant and bar area are set on raised wooden platforms that provide stunning views of Lake Mburo. The emphasis of the camp is to provide first class personal service in an idyllic and natural setting. Lake Mburo National Park is small in comparison with other East African parks, but its mosaic of habitats - dry hillsides, rocky outcrops, bushy thickets, open and wooded savannahs, forests, lakes, and swamps - are home to a surprising diversity of plants and animals. Most of the park is composed of open and wooded savannah. "Savannah" is a term applied to a range of vegetation types consisting predominantly of grasses, but with varying amounts of shrubs and trees. At the center of the park is Lake Mburo, which together with 14 other lakes in the area forms part of a wetland system. This system is linked by a swamp some 50 kilometers long, fed by the Ruizi River on the western side. Five lakes, of which the largest is Lake Mburo, occur within the park's boundary. Almost a fifth of the park's area consists of wetlands - both seasonally flooded and permanent swamps. |
