Erika Looser 32 was born in Costa Rica. Erika has been working for Costa
Rica’s most important tourism companies for nearly 12 years, including Swiss Travel-Tam, Otec Viajes, Costa Rica Gateway (birding tours) and Vesa Tours.
Erika was mostly involved in organization of group itineraries for all kinds of clients (birders, family travel, incentive groups, research and general tourism). Erika also worked for Costa Rica Gateway which is one of the most pretigious bird watching tour operators in Costa Rica.
It was then when she learned all about the world of bird watching. She, on her own time, joined scheduled tour groups of birders in Costa Rica and Panamá which then gave her the insight to birdwatchers demands.
Her recent work is as a consultant in marketing and promotion of tourism companies and operations.
She works daily with what clients want, how the company looks, how to sell services, how to NOT lose a client, market trends, how to be different from other companies etc.
Erika is fluent in English, Spanish, French and gets along in German.
She is very active, involved in sports, loves nature and of course birding.
Erika has been invited to join Birding Safaris Africa as a company partner. Her plan is to take BSA to the top ranks of birding companies worldwide.

Bernard Amakobe was born and raised in Nairobi but is originally from Western Kenya. “Scopus” as his friends like to call him is a certified bird ringer and accomplished naturalist. Bernard’s profession as a ringer led him to work with bird observatories in Britain and Portugal so he could learn more about migration and molting patterns of palaearctic migrants.
He is one of the key ringers at the Ngulia migration ringing station. His intense interest and dedication to natural history has given him a willingness to share information and knowledge with all of his tour participants. Bernard has served as a naturalist and leader on several northern circuit bird tours in Kenya.
When he is not guiding, he coordinates and leads field studies in ornithology at Mpala Research Center for Cornell Lab in ornithology and the National Museum of Kenya.

David Gitau was born in Kenya in the Rift Valley province and spent his early years in the central and coast province. He became one of the few certified ringers in the country enabling him to hold the position of chief ringer and trainer for the Nairobi ringing group. He started freelancing as a bird guide in 2000 and has led many trips in East Africa.
Due to his participation in conservation projects in the region, he became familiar with the culture, flora and fauna of East Africa. His zeal for bird banding as a tool for conservation has also given him a chance to visit several bird observatories in the Middle East, Europe and Central America as a guest ringer. This in turn has enormously enhanced his understanding of global cooperation through conservation biology and interaction with people from all walks of life.
Though he still works as a field Ornithologist through the National Museum of Kenya, he is always on call to guide visitors because of his intimate knowledge of the best areas for game, rare birds and beautiful scenery. He brings a vast knowledge in the field of ornithology to Birding Safaris Africa. Join him as he takes you on a memorable tour through our beautiful country.
