About Us

Birding Safaris Africa emerged as a joint venture between five top birders and naturalists in the region who saw the need to have a company that gives clients the highest standards in bird guiding within the known birding hotspots and less visited areas of East Africa. Our aim  is not to necessarily see as many birds as possible but to find that very special bird which has brought you all those many miles to the region.

We term our trips as bird finding holidays and not twitching trips.  We will take you to the best sites to look for exciting birds and you will not be obsessively rushed around with a long list of species, which must be seen at all costs.

We have structured itineraries in such a way to give the right balance between time spent in the field birding, time spent traveling and free time and sightseeing. Although the emphasis throughout the trip is on finding those elusive birds, it does not mean ignoring the wildlife. The guides are extremely competent ornithologists who have sound knowledge of the region’s natural and cultural history and will take time to share this with you.

We have also kept in mind that birding inside a vehicle is not the most convenient, so the areas which have been chosen in our itinerary offer a chance of walking on nature trails and enroute stopovers at birding hotspots.

Our Equipment
All of our tour leaders are equipped with the latest spotting scopes (Nikon ED 60mm), laser pointers for immediate location of birds and a powerful flashlight for locating nocturnal species.
